At the end of my Work From Kuala Lumpur stay, I found myself wandering aimless and unexpectedly came across a form of entertainment that’s common in major cities yet presented in a way that felt entirely different from karaoke venues in Indonesia.
Alibaba Karaoke features an Arabian inspired, Middle Eastern Sultan theme, offering the unique experience of singing in a setting that resembles a lavish golden palace. Its interiors and private rooms are adorned with rich gold elements, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and immersive.
So, what can you actually expect inside? Let’s take a closer look at my experience at Alibaba Karaoke in Taman Sari, Kuala Lumpur.
LOCATION
Alibaba Karaoke is located not far from Wangsa Maju just one LRT stop away. Since I was staying in Wangsa Maju, I decided to head over to the Taman Sari area to find a place where I could both work and unwind. That’s when this “bathroom singer” (yes, me!) stumbled upon Alibaba Karaoke.
From Taman Sari LRT Station, it’s just a short walk to M3 Shopping Mall. And yes, the karaoke spot is inside the mall, located on the first floor. If you have trouble finding it, you can always ask at the information desk or even one of the clothing vendors in the lobby. Don’t worry they’re friendly and happy to help, although most people here speak Malay, often quite quickly and with a strong local accent

PRICE
When it comes to pricing, the system is pretty similar to what you’d find in Indonesia. Yes, I did make a bit of a rookie mistake I ended up adding a promo package that offered unlimited refill drinks for RM 8. In hindsight, that alone could’ve covered a decent meal. Well, first-time experience there’s always a little trial and error, right?
The room itself cost around RM 28, plus the additional RM 8 for the unlimited drinks. Honestly, for a two hour karaoke session, it’s quite affordable especially if you skip the unlimited drink promo.
Facilities
This is what truly amazed me. From the moment I arrived and walked toward the room, I was escorted by two staff members dressed in traditional Middle Eastern royal style attire, instantly creating an exclusive and luxurious atmosphere. Along the way, they also explained the additional facilities available, including the restroom area and the location where guests could enjoy unlimited drinks.
Whenever visiting a karaoke venue, one common question always comes up: are the microphones wired or wireless? Thankfully, Alibaba Karaoke already uses wireless microphones, making it much more comfortable to dance, jump around, and fully enjoy the karaoke experience inside the room.
Once inside, I was welcomed by elegant velvet sofas and a stunning Middle Eastern inspired interior design. The abstract paintings on the walls added an artistic touch that made the place feel almost like a museum. The TV screen was also large enough to make reading the song lyrics easy and comfortable.
At first, I was a little confused about how to select songs, but I didn’t give up. Eventually, I figured out how to use the small touchscreen panel beside the sofa to browse and choose the songs I wanted to sing.

Those are some of the things I can share about my experience at Alibaba Karaoke in Taman Sari. My suggestion? Don’t come alone. It can be quite expensive, guys! But if you come with friends, you can split the bill and make it much more affordable.
